HEART CHOSE MONTANA

Once the architect behind HEART, Steven Holl, had presented the architecture and plans for an open HEART surrounding two treasure chambers of art, the first deliberations on the interior furnishing began.

And HEART chose Montana.

Montana’s fundamental concept of “creating a system of freedom for people ties in well with the concept of an open house with many audience-friendly rooms and facilities. Montana will create a total interior for HEART, utilizing an overall concept, which will be adapted to the various functions required: offices, public areas, the foyer, restaurant, square, shop, library, and interaction areas. The design plans have been presented to Steven Holl, who is delighted with the lightness, flexibility, and the colours of the system.

In connection with the interaction and shop areas Peter Lassen from Montana continues to work on his vision to crate unprecedented flexibility in the design options through the use of GRID – a 40x40x40cm cube made out of 12mm pressure-moulded nylon. GRID is not a piece of furniture; it is a structural element that can be used to form new spaces and designs in multiple dimensions. The opportunities presented by GRID have already been explored and tested in co-operation with artists, architects, and designers – and is now brought into creative play at HEART.

Peter Lassen’s great passion is art. A passion which he and Montana makes manifest in the form of art sponsorships. For example, this year sees Montana once again sponsoring the Danish Pavilion at the Venice Biennial, and Montana has also worked with the artists-in-residence organization Socle du Monde.

“Art supplies energy, makes fruitful, and liberates. I am indebted to it, for it helps me see and understand. It showcases, debates, rejects, offends, and enthralls” – these words are Peter Lassen’s – and HEART looks forward to being enthralled by the resultant interiors.
