SHIT OR GOLD?

11.09.10 - 2011

In 1961 the Italian artist Piero Manzoni created the art work Merda d’artista. Although it has several decades under its belt, this small can, which supposedly contains 30 grams of the artist’s own faeces, still has the ability to start a debate.
The exhibition “Shit or Gold?” brings Piero Manzoni, Merda d’artista and conceptual art in general into focus.
The presented artists all worked with conceptual art and thereby challenged and still challenge the viewer to consider what can and cannot be conceived as art.
