HEART Collection

Collection

HEART Collection consists of contemporary art from the 1950's till today. The collection is influenced by shirt manufacturer Aage Damgaards' interest for art and artists whom he invited to Herning to enable them to create art in a free environment.

It is artists such as Paul Gadegaard, Sven Dalsgaard, Robert Jacobsen, Ole Schwalbe, Poul Gernes, Svend Wiig Hansen and Richard Mortensen, who in their own way reflect the concrete abstract painting.

A primary part of the collection is the 41 pieces by Piero Manzoni who is the most important representative for the direction of art "arte povera". The collection includes, among others, Socle du Monde, Linea m 2700, Merda d’artista and a list of his ”achromes” inspired by his stays in Herning in 1960 and 1961. HEART disposes over the biggest public Manzoni-collection. The museum furtmermore disposes over a list of pieces by e.g. Enrico Castellani and Jannis Kounellis.

HEART disposes over a long list of important pieces that reflect Danish contemporary art. There are pieces by Bjørn Nørgaard, Asger Jorn, Per Kirkeby, Peter Bonnén, Ingvar Cronhammar, Troels Wörsel, Jesper Just and John Kørner.

HEART guided tours will become deeply immersed into the pieces and connect them to comtemporary art in general and the HEART history specifically.
